MAY 1ST-We are all excited to see Owasso softly opening from the COVID-19 shutdown order that has been keeping everyone home this past month. While this may raise some concerns to residents this has also been good news for local business owners who took a big hit.
Emersumnice Brewery, on South Main, will finally open their doors to Owasso this Friday, May 1st, for dine-in. Right before the quarantine Donnie Eldrige, the owner opened the new bar and restaurant for military patrons in March and was originally going to open to everyone right before the pandemic.
Looking forward to breaking his business out to Owasso, Elderige has planned on making the brewery a local creation where customers’ input was valued to the point that tailored the items on the menu to their taste.
Expecting to get foot traffic from the Gathering on Main, Eldrige found it difficult to make their bottom line. While most restaurants have succeeded by keeping their kitchens open for roadside delivery, the brewery initially struggled to get the word out about their Growler and Pizza deal. However, it did not take long for news to get out that their local beer was worth buying a refillable jug. Selling about 400 growlers within a month the brewery is ready to open its bar for anyone who would like to try its independent craft.
Eldridge did find a silver lining from this shutdown, as he took the time to make sure that the brewery was safe and accessible to families once they were able to re-open.
“We started moving tables from our main dining room and to get ready for the social distancing thing. We’ve been putting 6 feet between all our tables and removing barstools…We want to open up and have people come in here and feel like this is a clean and safe environment.”
Taking extra steps like closing the doors and deep cleaning their space, making their employees go through extra cleanliness training, and spacing out their seating room, Emersumnice is taking the necessary precautions to make Owasso’s soft-opening worth it.
It may be safe to say that despite their rocky start, Emersumnice will be recognized as a family-valued space that puts the needs of their patrons first. If you are interested in supporting a local business in Owasso then Emersumnice may be the place to go. When the business opens try their upstairs bar or downstairs family dining area, either way, you will be helping a part of Owasso grow.
